"Thus saith the Lord; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord of Hosts, the holy mountain." (Zechariah 8:3) The Holy Mountain is the restored Temple wherein the new Christian Initiation is to be given. This Initiation is not a transcendental ritual for use only on special occasions and at exalted times; it applies as well to everyday living. Hence, the admonition of Zechariah: "Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassion every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart." (Zechariah 7:9,10) The new garment of Light is not woven by heroics only, but by the faithful performance of humble daily duties.
In the New Age the Holy Summer Solstice once more will be universally observed; in the spiritual exaltation of its high rhythms all peoples and races will unite into one vast fellowship. This was understood in early Christian centuries, and it was anticipated by Zechariah: Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass." Such was the custom among kings of Israel. The ass and foal refer to Cancer, sign of the Summer Solstice in the Arian Age.
The marriage of a spiritual mind (House of Joseph) with an illumined heart (House of Judah) must be accomplished by those who aspire to greet the Priest-King and share with Him habitation of the New Jerusalem. Through power released in the Mystic Marriage, all the works of the Christ become possible of accomplishment by an Initiate. Such Initiates will be the new holy race that will "walk up and down in His Name" — for they will be citizens of two worlds, equally at home on inner and outer Planes of Nature.
To take part in the Great Work, every neophyte must be prepared
to follow the Christ to the place of Crucifixion. There is no other way.
new Initiations to be given in the Christian era — Initiations that were
prefigured in certain ancient rites and customs. "And one shall say
unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer,
Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends." (Zechariah
13:6)
Zechariah 13:8,9
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two
parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them
as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them; I will say, It is my people: and they
shall say, The Lord is my God.
The two parts to be cut off are the masculine and feminine poles of spirit in their inharmonious functioning apart from one another. They will then be unified and function together in creative works like unto the Elohim, which is the third part that consists of the two blended together in the new spiritual body. This was the Work accomplished by medieval alchemists under the guise of transmuting base metals into gold. The Elect of the New Day will be those who have successfully united the dual forces within themselves and thus acquired power, not only to manipulate form as man does at the present time, but to create life.
In this last vision Zechariah again sees far beyond the first Advent of the Messiah in Palestine. He envisions a later period, time of the Second Coming. The terrestrial globe will have undergone a transformation and will then be self-luminous. Vast geological changes are indicated in the prediction that 'living waters shall go out from Jerusalem."
Because many apocalyptic promises were not fulfilled in the time of Jesus, a large group among the Jews rejected Him as the Messiah" but the rejection was based on a misunderstanding. According to prophecy, me "day of the Lord" was to be followed by "the agonies of the Messiah." But a "day of the Lord" may be either a millennium or a zodiacal age of more than two millennia. Hence, the First Coming of Messiah is followed by a "day" of suffering and conflict: the Piscean Age which has certainly been the bloodiest period the earth has every known. Our very planet writhes in agony as the conflict approaches its consummation. At the end of the "agonies of the Messiah," however, victory comes. In Christian prophecy this victory is the Second Coming of Christ. It is clear to esotericists that the Age of Pisces is the apocalyptic age of the Messiah's agonies, and that only in the Capricornian Age described by Zechariah will all prophecy be fulfilled.
